Softball Recap: Libertyville Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games – MaxPreps.com

Libertyville barely beat Loyola Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn’t the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Ramblers on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Higham made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn’t allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn’t tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Kinsella was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Mckenna Weaver was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Libertyville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyola Academy only posted an OBP of .214.

Libertyville has been performing well recently as they’ve won seven of their last nine matches. That’s provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Loyola Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Libertyville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Lincoln-Way East on the 3rd. As for Loyola Academy, they also didn’t take long to hit the field again: they’ve already played their next game, a 5-3 defeat against Providence Catholic on the 7th.
