NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women’s tennis team earned recognition on the 2024 Division I Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team list and five Redbird student-athletes were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team announced on Monday by the organization.
In 2024, a total of 1,573 Division I women’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 255 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. Illinois State had five student-athletes recognized as part of this year’s list including Silvia Pomarolli, Nevena Kolarevic, Othilia Brodin, Zoe Limparis and Tijana Zlatanovic.
The Redbirds posted a spring team grade point average of 3.69, including having four players who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA and all eight student-athletes on the roster made the ISU honor roll. Pomarolli was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming the third Redbird to be named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was joined on the 2024 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team by Zlatanovic and Kolarevic.
Student-athletes honored had to have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have amassed a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale) and all varsity letter winners should have been factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
