Chicago Bulls star Josh Giddey underwent successful right ankle surgery and is expected to return to the court in approximately three months and be ready for the start of training camp, the team announced Wednesday.

Giddey first injured his ankle at the 2024 Paris Olympics and dealt with a few injuries throughout this past season, including against the Detroit Pistons and his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also missed a couple of weeks in December with a left hamstring injury. The 23-year-old averaged 17.0 points, 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds in 32 minutes per game and shot 44.8 percent from the field in 2025-26.

As Giddey prepares for his third season in Chicago, he will return to some changes. The Bulls fired two front-office staff members, general manager Artūras Karnišovas and executive Marc Eversley. Later, Billy Donovan stepped down as coach. Giddey is entering the second season of a four-year, $100 million contract he signed last summer.
