ROCKFORD, Ill. — A vehicle crash near Rockford Airport killed a young woman early on Sunday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, a vehicle drove into the roundabout at the intersection of Kishwaukee St. and Airport Dr. The vehicle’s backseat passenger was 25-year-old Ciana Talmadge of Chicago.
Rockford PD and Rockford FD personnel were called to the scene. When they arrived, they found three people inside the vehicle. Talmadge was unresponsive. They initiated life-saving measures, then brought her and the two other occupants by ambulance to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, Talmadge was pronounced dead at 3:19 a.m.
The vehicle’s driver, 30-year-old Alazia Hatchett of Orland Hills, was charged with Aggravated DUI Involving Personal Injury/Death and Reckless Homicide. She was taken to Winnebago County Jail.
Hatchett will be in court on Oct. 30 at 9:00 a.m.
