Temecula Valley’s Jeremiah Profit among CIF Southern Section boys basketball players of the year

Temecula Valley freshman guard Jeremiah Profit was among the 10 boys basketball players chosen as division players of the year when the CIF Southern Section released honors for the 2023-24 season.

Profit brought home the Division 4A Player of the Year honor after helping the Golden Bears claim the first section title in program history. He led the team in scoring and also ranked among the leaders in rebounds, assists and steals. Profit sparked a renaissance for a program that went a combined 4-52 the previous two years. He was the only freshman to earn player of the year honors.

James Profit, who is Jeremiah’s father, was recognized as the Division 4A Coach of the Year for guiding the Golden Bears to that historic section championship.

An additional 13 Inland players were selected to the first team in their school’s respective playoff divisions.

Roosevelt reached the Open Division championship game and had two players selected to the first team in that division: junior forward Brayden Burries and senior guard Darnez Slater. Joining those two on the Open Division first team was Centennial senior guard Eric Freeny.
