Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve getting set for opening trout weekend

Trout season is coming and Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve (SLRP) is preparing for the big event which will take place Nov. 2-3.

SLRP is excited to have Mt. Lassen back to stock some 3,500 pounds of trout.

Lakes 2, 3 and 4 will be closed Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in preparation for the opener next Saturday. Lake 7 will remain open to campers only. Trophy Lighning Trout will be stocked for next weekend.

Those interested in fishing can grab a permit in the general store.

The hours for next weekend’s event will be 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gate entrance for fishing will be $7 per carload. Permits are $10 for adults and $6 for juniors and seniors. A second pole stamp costs $4.
