The Connection is spending time behind the scenes with members of the campus community to offer a glimpse into the ways their work shapes campus life. Our first installment features the typical day of Raymond Neuharth, Cosumnes River College’s photography instructional assistant as he navigates his lab classes.
Neuharth’s experiences in photography include shooting more than 300 weddings and he’s also done photojournalism assignments in the past. Neuharth has worked at CRC since 2004 and, as an instructional assistant, he said he helps photography classes get organized by running lab sessions, maintaining equipment for checkout and printing any materials needed for the day.
Photography instructional assistant Raymond Neuharth sits in his office in the Winn Center at Cosumnes River College on March 3. This is where he spends his time going over important emails on his desktop and ordering equipment for the photography department. Neuharth said that photography is for his enjoyment now. He said his professional assignments were fun, but “weddings are best done by young people.” (Ivan Zorilla Reynoso)Neuharth holds a printed schedule of photography classes for the spring semester. He said he starts his day by looking at the schedule to make sure he is on track for the week’s lab assignments. (Ivan Zorilla Reynoso)Neuharth goes over the printing workflow with one of the student assistants, Janna Eerkens, 19-year-old English major who sees photography as a hobby. Student assistants help with the workflow for some photo courses that involve the photo lab and darkroom.
