The male Panther of the Week is going to Zion Fruster from the men’s basketball team.
The senior guard from Douglasville, Georgia, scored 25 points in Eastern’s 59-51 overtime victory over Southern Indiana on Thursday.
Fruster scored the Panthers’ final 13 points, including a bucket with seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.
Fruster’s effort helped Eastern win its first road game of the season.
The female Panther of the Week is going to Abby Venhaus from the women’s track and field team.
The junior from Columbia, Illinois recorded a season-best long jump mark of 5.85m (19-02.50) at the Fighting Illini Challenge in Champaign on Saturday.
That distance is the sixth longest in program history.
The men’s and women’s track and field split up on Saturday, with one group going to the Fighting Illini Challenge in Champaign while another group went to the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
