VALERIE BERTINELLI DOING BOOK EVENT AT NCC
Actress and bestselling author Valerie Bertinelli will talk about her book, “Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect,” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville.
The author event, hosted by Anderson’s Bookshop, will include a presentation about the book, a question-and-answer session and a photo line. Participants will receive a pre-signed copy of her memoir.
Bertinelli’s latest work talks about divorce, menopause and generational pain with a message of self-acceptance, a description of the event said.
Tickets are $38 and will be available through 5 p.m. March 13. Space is limited, and advanced registration is required.

DUPAGE ACCEPTING COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
DuPage County residents pursuing higher education who are at or below 200% of the poverty line can apply for college and occupational training scholarships.
The Community Services Block Grant scholarship, funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, may be used for tuition, fees, books and program specific supplies, a news release from DuPage County said.
It is designed for low-income individuals who have high academic potential.
Applicants must provide proof of DuPage County residency, gross household income for the past 30 days and information about other household members. Income for the household must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, the county said.
Applicants must also include a 500-word original essay or personal statement, official school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a financial aid award letter, and proof of enrollment in an accredited institution, the county said.
Awards will be based on financial need and range from $1,000 to $5,000.
