Fort Wayne Komets forward Austin Magera is heading overseas to Germany to play in the DEL with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. Magera, 27, spent four seasons playing in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Fort Wayne Komets. During his time with the Stingrays, he recorded 48 goals and 91 assists for 139 points in 156 games. He played in the 2023 and 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Stingrays, recording one assist in six games. After playing with the Stingrays for three seasons, Magera signed with the Fort Wayne Komets for the 2025-26 season. In 71 games with the Komets, he recorded 32 goals and 33 assists for 65 points. Magera would add 17 games with the Komets during the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points.
Junior Career
Prior to going pro, the Suwanee, Georgia, native spent one season in the USHL with the Chicago Steel and Lincoln Stars. During Magera’s time with the Chicago Steel, he recorded four goals and five assists for nine points in 28 games. During the 2017 season Magera was traded from the Chicago Steel to the Lincoln Stars. Magera spent the remainder of the 2017-18 season with the Lincoln Stars, recording two goals and three assists for five points in 13 games.
After playing with the Lincoln Stars, Austin Magera continued his career at the NCAA level. He attended Sacred Heart University, where he played five seasons of Division I hockey. In 154 games with the Pioneers, he recorded 47 goals and 69 assists for 116 points.
