NORMAL, IL.- The Illinois State Redbird track and field men picked to finish second, Redbird women picked to finish third as selected by the conference head coaches and announced Thursday afternoon by the MVC.
The ISU men have received 86 points, 14 points behind Indiana State (100) as they take the top spot out of the 10 schools. ISU women received 125 points with one first place vote, behind Murray State (131) and Indiana State (140).
The Redbirds return four defending champions that include Senior Raydoffa Braziel (400m), Hassy Fashina-Bombata (100mH) including the women’s 4x400m Relay and the men’s 4x400m relay. Ariel Atias will also return for the ‘Birds, who currently holds the program record in the heptathlon and decathlon
Additionally, Illinois State returns eight student-athlete who won championships titles at the 2024 Indoor MVC Championships.
ISU also had numerous All-Valley performers from its 2023-2024 squads.
Both squads open their 2024 outdoor season at home for the Redbird Challenge on March 29 and 30.
