Redbirds Athletics Raises Over $76,000 As Part of Birds Give Back

NORMAL, Ill. – On Thursday, February 22, the Illinois State Athletics Department along with the entire Illinois State University community took part in the sixth-annual Birds Give Back campaign. Through the University-wide day of philanthropy, alumni, faculty/staff, students, parents, friends, and the community were encouraged to donate funds to support their areas of interest at Illinois State.

On the day of giving, Illinois State Athletics sought to raise funds for investments into the Redbird Refresh Fund, an initiative dedicated to enhancing Redbird branding within the athletics facilities. The department raised $76,265 from 265 donors in 23 states.

“On behalf of the entire Redbird Athletics Department, thank you for your participation in this year’s Birds Give Back campaign,” ISU Interim Director of Athletics Dr. Jeri Beggs said. “We are thrilled to report a substantial increase in staff participation, alumni support, and overall engagement compared to last year. Your generous contributions and enthusiastic involvement are instrumental in advancing our mission and supporting our student-athletes. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to Redbird Athletics.”

The Illinois State Athletics Department is excited for the opportunity to enhance an already strong brand that will play a pivotal role in recruiting and retaining student-athletes. Historic Horton Fieldhouse and the North and South Gyms are among the facilities that will undergo branding upgrades. These upgrades will allow Illinois State to not only enhance the student-athlete experience, but also showcase those facilities to the diverse groups within our community who utilize them.
