NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State standout, Ava Watson, was named to the All-MVC Freshman team as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Watson started and played in all 16 Redbird matches in the 2023 season, while racking up 1,213 minutes on the pitch. The freshman earned three points on the year, coming on a team-leading three-assist season.
The defense from Watson helped lead the Redbirds to two one-nil shutouts against both Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois. Watson, the native of Dublin, Ohio marks the second Redbird freshman in two years to land on the All-Conference squad, as Jade Rehberger earned the rookie honor in the 2022-23 season.
